Challenge Quilt and Quilt Block Lotto
2012
2012 Challenge Quilt Rules

Each year the Chadron Festival of Quilts Committee chooses a theme or block to be used in the Challenge Quilt Contest.  This year, there is no specific block or method for the challenge quilt.  Instead, we are challenging quilters to experiment with embellishments following these rules:
1.  Your item must include at least 3 different types of embellishments.
2.  The item can be pieced, appliqued, embroidered, painted, or any combination of techniques.
3.  The total perimeter measurement (the measurement of all sides of the item added together) must be 210  inches or less.
4.  You must have an attached label on the back of the item with the name of the project, your name, address and phone number.
5.  You must have your item and a completed registration form turned in at the Assumption Arena no later than Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 1 p.m.  Registration forms are available at
check-in time or click on "How to Enter a Quilt in the Show."
6.  For more information, call Phyllis E. at 308-432-5206.

Quilters of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to enter the challenge contest!
.2012 Quilt Block Lotto

A popular Festival feature is the Quilt Block Lotto.  In order to enter the game, make at least one quilt block according to the instructions below and bring it to the Chadron Festival of Quilts.  You will be given one chance for each block you enter.  The winner is drawn from those that participate and will receive all of the blocks.  If we receive a large number of blocks, they may be broken down into more than one group and there would be more than one winner.

This year's theme is "Embellish with Relish."  Here are the rules:

1.  Construct a Crazy Quilt Block using any era of fabric.  Check the internet or your favorite quilt shop for ideas on Crazy Quilt designs.  Scraps left over from clothing are the most popular fabrics.  Silky types and velvets are commonly used.  Please do not embellish your entries; this will be left to the winner to complete the quilt in his or her own unique way.
2.  Blocks must be 12 1/2 inches unfinished, 12  inches finished.
3.  Pin a piece of paper with your name and phone number on the back. Bring your block(s) to Assumption Arena by 2:45 p.m. on Sunday April 22, 2012; the drawing will be at 3 p.m.
