April 1st, 2022
Stacey Gustus & Jenn Yenter
The vision of this dynamic sister duo is “no fear quilting” or “no rules quilting”, and making those quilts together—collaborating on fabric choices and design selection—all while living almost 400 miles apart!
One sister lives in Chadron, NE, and is a full-time nurse at Chadron Community Hospital. The second sister is a full-time legal secretary who lives in Hudson, Colorado. Both ladies learned to sew as children in their hometown 4-H Club and like most quilters started their sewing careers in garment sewing.
They have gone their separate ways in career choices and have lived in different states most of their adult lives. However, their passion for sewing and quilting and all things fabric has kept them close in their common love for making quilts. They get together for shopping trips and stolen moments to create together at quilt retreats and each other’s homes when the time is right.
'Willow Tree Quilters'
April 3rd, 2022
Willow Tree Quilt Guild, Gordon, NE
The quilters will be presenting "My Favorite Quilts" to each of their members.
This trunk show format was the brainchild of long-time member, Kristi Paul. Ideally, each member of the Willow Tree Quilt Guild will select a quilt or two from their private collection to bring for a unique show and tell style quilt show for our viewing audience. This will make for a diverse selection of quilts, table runners, wall hanging, and other surprises that will be presented. With close to 30 members in the guild, we are sure to be delighted with their selections. A must-see!
April 2nd, 2022
Martha Woodhouse, Gordon NE
She will be showing her "My Favorite Quilt".
Martha began quilting before she was 5 years old. Her mother taught her to hand-piece and allow her to help try quilts that were made to be used by her family. Her 'can-do-attitude' and persistence throughout the years have resulted in accomplishments in the quilting world that only few can imagine. Her decades of sewing have seen untold advancements in sewing machines and other tools that today's quilters take for granted.
How many quilts has she made?...no way to know; she didn't keep track of all of them. They are scattered to the numerous relatives and friends who were fortunate enough to receive them. Treasures, every single one of them. Martha will share several quilts from her private collection and tell the story of each one. It's important to note that Martha has passed her love of quilting onto her daughter, Susan McDonald of Hay Springs. Her legacy continues!
